There is a New Moon brewing, this time in the sign of the Twins, Gemini. At the same time, our lady of Love, Venus, is retrograde, conjunct the versatile Mercury and squaring Neptune, her higher octave. On top of this, the New Moon is squaring Mars in Pisces, adding more juice to the Neptunian vibe that is here presented.
This overload of mutable energy can stir your mind into realms that are as enjoyable and spiritually inspired as they are lost and wanders aimlessly into the night, making you fret over details and potential scenarios that are yet to happen.
The challenge with this combination of Gemini and Pisces, and their ruling principle, Mercury and Neptune, is a lack of boundaries, where the mind spins fantasies and projects hopes and dreams. Communications get blurry, boundaries challenged.
Many dreams and illusions have been lost and now the earthlings are looking for new ones.
This sets the stage for a month of swift and unpredictable changes. However, no matter how quickly we would want to move forward, both Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn, Venus and Juno in Libra, ruled by Venus, are all retrograde, forcing us to look back on our tracks and our choices, reassessing our moves and creating doubt and worry over the choices that we made the last few months, both as nations and as individuals. Was it the right choice or could things have been done differently?
The consequences of our actions are dawning on us. As the Full Moon the 5th of June also squares Mars, the principle of action is challenged by strong emotions and frustrations. If there has been dormant hysteria and fear, this will rise collectively as we are heading straight into the unknown. Most people cannot deal with not having a clear plan for the future, but the truth of the matter is we never had one. We only get this one day at a time and as the lunar month comes to an end, Mercury will also be retrograde, causing a bit more introspection and potential worry. We are called to find flexibility and work on our capacity to adapt to change.
To balance all this we need to look at the missing link. There is no presence of Virgo available for us right now and we have a strong focus of Air and Water. Combined they potentially cause neurosis and worry, and to offset this we need Fire and Earth. With Uranus in an earth sign, the earth element is a challenge and Taurus is the very ground we walk on. Our resources and our relationships to money are going through a huge shift. Venus retrograde is infamous for creating a downside in the economy and this one is not an exception. Through invoking Virgo, we move back to our routines, maintain our bodies, and work on our health. We simplify. And through breathing life into Fire we work on our spiritual faith, our inner fire. This is the energy that purifies anything that is stuck in the consciousness. Fire is the faith we need to let go, to release. A spiritual practice that involves breathwork is highly recommended.
So while the planets are moving us into yet another phase of insecurity and potential scary scenarios, we do best by sticking to what works and what makes us feel good and strong. With Ceres also in Pisces, call on the Mother in your heart. She is always present. Stay sane and stay safe. Trust the life you are a part of. And remember the words of Charles Darwin, born with Neptune in Sagittarius conjunct the ascendant from the 12th house: “It is not the strongest of species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change”
In astrology the Sun is like the hour hand, the Moon the minute hand and the Ascendant the second hand. Let’s all listen to the natural cycles of change during these times by tuning into our great Mother Moon!
