Full Moon 24º Taurus Nov 15, 2024

by SOL W JONASSEN

〰️ At the threshold between the old and the new 〰️

There is nothing calm, lenient, chill, or grounded about this Taurus Full Moon. As it is conjunct Uranus, it takes on a whole different expression, and the energy is sizzling! Uranus rules the nervous system, and Taurus is the body. Add these two together, synthesize it with the Scorpio Sun, sprinkle over Mars in Leo, and filter it through Venus in Capricorn square the Nodal axis, and voila! This is the most potent cocktail you’ll have on this side of the New Year. It can wake up the dead and unleash the ghosts that have been safely tucked away in a distant closet.

It is Scorpio deep cleanse time, and for some, this could be the best thing ever, finally purging ancient toxic fumes, and for others, it can feel almost impossible to regulate the nervous system and calm down the body and the mind. Uranus waves the carrot of liberation before the cart, yet, somehow, the many attachments weigh so heavily that progress feels terribly slow.

Jupiter and Mercury have also entered the ring, standing opposite each other for the first of three times due to Mercury’s imminent retrograde motion. When these two bang heads attachments to our most precious ideas and convictions are being tested, not only internally, but by anyone we meet, and it can be really hard to keep the motormouth shut at just the time when it would be very wise to do so. The big question is whether the problems we experience are children of our own attitudes or whether it is appropriate to blame others for them. It will take a great degree of honesty and courage to see which is which.

And just as these two get warmed up, Pluto returns to Aquarius, finally done with Capricorn! At the threshold between the old and the new, tensions have been building, and the fear is that the current trajectory does not seem to be the right one. For some, it will look like everything is moving backward, and our most precious freedoms are being challenged, freedoms we fought hard to win. Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is picking up momentum, and as we feel this tension between the old and the new, it seems to be coming to an emotional boil right now with the Full Moon.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon: «A Vast Public Park» reminds us of the ultimate Uranus expression, that of groups, tribes, and belonging. Societies are being polarized at a quick pace these days, and each member of the tribe would do well to be mindful of this instead of deflecting and distracting attention elsewhere. No matter how we look at it, there is something universal about being alive, something that connects us all despite our differing opinions. Mark Manson, the author of the book “The Art of Not Giving a F*ck” said this: «Knowledge is an eternal iterative process. We don’t go from “wrong” to “right” once we discover the capital-T Truth. Rather, we go from partially wrong to slightly less wrong, to slightly less wrong than that, to even less wrong than that, and so on. We approach the capital-T Truth but never reach it.»

When we know that we don’t know all, we also understand that we can make mistakes. The awakening that is Uranus’ specialty can shock us into awareness, and it can be a grueling experience to see how our previous actions led to a great deal of suffering for us and others. But it is this suffering that helps us be less wrong and more right next time around. Part of our polarization problem is that many of us think we are right and «they» are wrong.

Legendary, honorable, and wise astrologer Michael Lutin, whom many of you probably knew, passed recently, and I have been thinking a lot about something he once told me. It was simple: «Don’t mix astrology with politics, you are here to help all.» He could’ve expanded on this and said: «Don’t mix personal opinions with being a world server, you are here to help all.» And once we take that final initiation into service, we are kindly reminded to be mindful of this in order to be of help to the larger group of humanity.

Venus through Capricorn is all about maturity in relationships, and not only is the planet of balance and beauty moving through the sign of maturity, but it is also finishing up a cycle to Pluto that began on Feb-24 at 0 Aquarius, urging us to let go of that which doesn’t serve us anymore and use the wisdom that we have to remain balanced, with an open heart and a clear mind. As Venus progresses through Capricorn, grief might arise. Let it be expressed. To see life in all its truth is not always easy, yet in many ways, it is better than to be naive. Just don’t lose the connection to the source of love in all this. Sometimes, it is better to be kind than to be right.

And as Michael often said: May all beings be happy and free!
