To gain the greatest insight and guidance from this month’s new Moon, and the subsequent Lunar and Solar eclipses following after it, let’s see how they fit into the more significant cycles of unfoldment within which they occur. Then, looking back, we can view last year and the great Pluto/Saturn/Jupiter conjunction as heralding the end of the world as we knew it.

In the circle of the zodiac, this occurred in the sign of Capricorn, associated with the peak of power and control over the material, physical world. Having reached that peak, the cycle then continues toward its final conclusion/ending in Pisces, to begin anew in Aries. Starting off in Aries, our hero gathers together all of his inner strength, resources, and capacities in Taurus (our new Moon) and then, through Gemini’s studies, research, travel, and communication, reaches new heights and depths of understanding an expanded reality and his place/purpose within it.

This Sabian symbol referring to Noah’s Ark may also refer to the sinking of Atlantis when the seven root races were sent out to resettle planet earth. The existing knowledge, beliefs, and actions taken by the Atlanteans led to a disaster from which they had to start over. When the Wright brothers thought to create a flying machine, we can be sure that many of them failed, ending with the destruction of the craft and a need to return to the drawing board and start over again. We now find ourselves with inadequate health care systems, corrupt pharmaceutical companies, a “food industry” manufacturing processed food lacking in proper nutrition that has led to weakened immune systems and a plethora of health problems.

This has left the vast majority of our population vulnerable to disease, with unprofitable treatments for those diseases being suppressed. Unfortunately, due to special interests, the socio-political-financial-medical institutions have failed to handle our current situation leading to an ever-expanding global crisis.

The hope for this symbol, which sets the tone for this month’s lunar cycle, and which is reflected in the upcoming planetary aspects, is that we can use this time to learn, grow, and expand our understanding. Courageously facing our personal and collective crises, we may receive spiritual guidance and a greater comprehension of the ordering of Life, its interconnectedness, and interdependence. This, in turn, can lead to the advancement of ourselves, our aims, and our entire civilization.

In this case, “faced with the right spirit” might refer to the youthful, insatiable curiosity of Gemini (where the solar eclipse will occur), spurred on by the Sagittarian lunar eclipse resurrecting and dispensing ancient wisdom teachings that further elucidate natural law. As many past crises’ have done, this personal and planetary healing crisis will necessarily lead to a more enlightened restructuring of the systems involved, whether they are personal, psychological realities, or social constructs.

This month is best suited to educational pursuits, be they formal, informal, or paranormal. With the right attitude and an open mind, great insights and discoveries are possible on every level, from who we are and why we are here to how best to proceed to manifest our highest destiny. As Mercury, in his Gemini home, unites with Venus in a first-quarter square to Neptune, it is time for us to come out of the fog, organize, and communicate our dreams and revelations. As he turns retrograde, we, like the Wright brothers, may need to go back to the drawing board of life, and with greater experience and insight, redraw, redirect, or reinvent ourselves/lives. Jupiter coming to his home in Pisces can bestow upon us the faith and hope needed to make these changes.

It is not time to escape, avoid, deny, or ignore the catastrophes we now face, but instead use these as stepping stones toward building a greater, future world.

Pluto will continue in square to Eris for the remainder of the year, reflecting death, destruction, and further chaos. Saturn too will continue in square to Uranus, challenging us to restructure our entire means of survival (from agriculture to currency and the redistribution of wealth), our notions/definitions of “community,” revising future plans for ourselves, our loved ones, and our planet that may require scrapping those now existing. As Mars transits through Cancer into an opposition with Pluto, deep emotional needs will irrupt, demanding creative solutions to avoid possibly violent encounters.

Through it all, a more profound respect for, and relationship to, our physical existence and the privilege of inhabiting a body to experience all that life has to offer us can be achieved. Through loving compassion for ourselves, including our faults and failings, as well as our strengths and achievements, we can help heal, teach, and lift the minds and spirits of our brethren.
