Let’s get serious! Or should I say, it will be serious whether you like it or not? This New Moon in Capricorn is conjunct Pluto, the God of the deep, down Underworld. And we know Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the great Lord of Karma, earnest, sober, stable, disciplined, grounded, goal-oriented decision-maker. Saturn and Capricorn are both associated with the Patriarchy and hierarchical, authoritative, top-down, “need to know” structures that are conservative, stern, and firm. The evolved or evolving Capricorn/Saturn energy brings patience, maturity, and self-control versus the rigid, bigoted, separatist. Both ends of the spectrum are highlighted this month as the new Moon sets the tone/mood for the entire lunar cycle.
We will find ourselves and others taking things seriously. Some will seriously want change, others will seriously not. Some will take it all so seriously they will be ready to fight. As you can see from the chart of the new Moon, Mars (the warrior) is conjunct Uranus (the rebel), in square to Saturn (authority), Jupiter (big), and Mercury (communication). Simply put, we will experience tension (the square aspect) between the current, prominent authorities and the warring rebels. You may experience this within your own psyche by wanting to break out of your old, established, limited life. And we will all witness some shocking, sudden, violent rebellions against external established authorities/institutions that are seen as old and limiting and whose destruction will liberate the wronged and suppressed.
Saturn/Capricorn likes to see things in black and white without a lot of a gray area in between. You either win or lose, are good or evil, positive or negative, light or dark. This new Capricorn Sun/Moon, together with Pluto, the destroyer, can pit those with opposing beliefs, ideas, goals, and aspirations against each other “to the death.” In the book of life, we could see this month as Chapter 13, where our hero/heroine meets his/her greatest adversaries, and much is laid to waste, the outlook grim. Armed with this knowledge, we can calmly and coolly proceed into this month, with eyes wide open, knowing that it is our time to be our own hero/heroine. Stand firm in our truth, walk our talk, take responsibility, and act by our conscience to create the kind of life/world we can be proud of. What unfolds in chapters 14 onward will depend on what decisions and actions are taken now, in this pivotal point of the story.
What makes this story such a mysterious thriller is that with Neptune exactly squaring the Nodes, there are so many secrets, illusions, lies, and deception that our hero/heroine is sorely tested. Not only to “battle with the forces of darkness,” but also to recognize which “demons” are dark!
There are seeds of truth surrounded by lies and sources of lies covered with facts. This is Neptune’s paradise ‘cuz it’s just too soon to tell! Our most significant help will be Venus squaring Chiron, which reminds us that this is all a healing process/crisis. If likened to surgery, we could say that 2020 put us under, cut us open, and 2021 involves finding the cancer and cleaning it out. We may feel vulnerable, tired, scared, and unwilling at times, but the great forces of life (the doctor) are pushing us ever onward toward a goal as yet unseen.
The first week of this month’s cycle will see Mars edging closer and closer to conjunct Uranus. The Moon will carry on through Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries to join Mars/Uranus in Taurus and square the Sun just as he enters Aquarius. The tight meeting of Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury will be concluded, and they will go on their separate ways.
It is a week to both wrap up the old and start the new! Shove what’s not working off the desk and focus on what is. Invite spirit vision to enlighten you and patiently begin to mold, shape, and form your dreams, images, and potentials into more crystalline forms. Nurture, water, and feed these new forms knowing that they hold your gift to self and the world and will unfold when their time is ripe.
