🌓 Waning Moon in Gemini | Oct 8-15, 2020

Today the Moon will be in a Waning Gibbous Phase. This is the first phase after the Full Moon, it’s when the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the Moon becomes a Last Quarter Moon – by October 10-, with an illumination of 50%. The Moon rises later and later each night, setting after sunrise in the morning. The Moon can also be seen in the early morning daylight hours, on the western horizon.

A 4th Waning Quarter is a moment when you scale down your full geared action mode – as experienced during the Full Moon -, and focus your attention in creating ways to engage in matters that are driven by inner self-transformative energy. I love the emanation of divine wisdom contained herein, which, like the dimming Moonlight, touches the deeper part of us. It teaches us that we don’t need to be in the limelight all the time. At this phase, our inspiration is coming more and more from within us. After the Full Moon, we now know what to do, so we need to Trust the inner knowledge and act upon it without delay as we are guided by the master within each of us.

Our powerful Life Force Source, the Sun, is transiting Libra, a sign ruled by Venus. This Libra season, combined with the Waning Moon phase, is here to remind you to appreciate yourself and see how beautiful you are. Self-appreciation is a typical Moon Waning phase energy when we need less and less external approval. We focus on embracing all aspects of ourselves, including our strengths, setbacks, and shadows.

Thursday, October 8

Late last night, the Moon in Gemini met its North Node at 22 ° Gemini. This Conjunction works as a surge of seemingly unrelated information that requires our full attention to try to make sense of what is being communicated in an underlying subliminal communication mode. Facts are secondary to Gemini. They just want to have something worth sharing to be thrown out in the open with the intention to shake what has reached a dull state. Geminis are all-in to create movement, even if it causes unrest. As with anything related to the North Node in Gemini, it allows bits of information to rapidly impact our lives, for good or for evil.

Whenever the Moon is transiting Gemini, it challenges our ability to keep a focused mind to take advantage of the stream of information that is pouring in at this time. This also means that we can be creative in our commercial dealings. Buying and selling are at its best energy when the Moon transits Gemini. This Conjunction may also help writers and journalists. It can also open doors that allow for publication of your articles and books.

Remember that less than 10 hours ago, the Moon in Gemini was involved in a Square to Neptune retrograde at 18° Pisces. It means that it’s somewhat challenging to make a decision because the information arriving to you at this time seems to be incomplete or untrustworthy. Add to this scenario that Mercury at 9° Scorpio forms an exact Opposition to Uranus at 9° Taurus. Uranus is Mercury’s higher octave, therefore the Opposition between these two may magnify our intellectual capacity to produce quite impressive intelligent ideas and create complex solutions to complicated matters. Under this Opposition, the alchemist attunes with the mind of the Gods and drinks in the fragrance of their being.

Mercury in Scorpio is all about taking back your power, especially if we consider that he is being supported by an Earth element Sextile from Venus transiting at 6° Virgo. Virgo and Scorpio are both task-oriented, and they are both working on using their god-given power and intention to manifest blessings in your life.

The Moon in Gemini also Squares Neptune Retrograde at 18° Pisces, and we all know by now that we are being exposed to all kinds of misinformation: real news can become fake news, and vise-versa. Opinions may gain a notorious status without any substantial narrative to back it up. Those who are less likely to dig down the facts may multiply many misleading information coming from all kinds of unreliable sources. We are witnessing these social phenomena with the widespread conspiracy theories perpetrated by radical groups such as QAnon, Pride Boys, Antifa, and others.

October 8 displays many intense planetary aspects, but the most challenging is probably Mars Retrograde at 22° Aries, Squaring Pluto – now in direct motion – at 22° Capricorn. Enough has been said about the negative aspects of this Square between these two strong-willed celestial bodies. I will focus on the lesson to be learned from this aspect between these two so that if anything less desirable challenges you, you will have a pretty good idea of how to best meet the moment.

From the Mars side, it’s time to really appreciate all you do without needing to rely too much on external approval. Yes, you should know by now that you have to be the most important person in your life. Now move on and share your power through community empowerment with those who need it the most. From the Pluto side of the story, it’s time to develop a deep sense of forgiveness and create a life full of Clairvoyance, where you can anticipate the clash of power soon enough as to avoid the density of destruction while replacing violent response by holding the intention to seeing only love, and that is what you will see. You are under the self-transformation mode of the Waning Moon phase. Clairvoyance may come in different forms: mental images, dreams, recurring sights in the physical world, and the message you decode from them can help you choose to express the best version of yourself under this challenging transit.

The evening comes, and the Moon moves into super-sensitive Cancer. This might shift the energy towards a more compassionate attitude even from those who are less vulnerable. Despite the intensity of this day, there is a chance that you will want to be gentle with yourself, so your best option, since you are reading this Lunar Planner, is to surround yourself with gentle people, peaceful situations, and choose to be in a relatively calm environment. Don’t engage in battles at this time.

Friday, October 9

The Moon is transiting Cancer all day today, and it is making friendly aspects to Uranus in Taurus by a Sextile, which will bring reasoning to the emotional nature of the Cancer Moon. The Moon in Cancer will also Trine Mercury in Scorpio, which will help you show real empathy for people and situations that cross your path today. The Moon in Cancer makes another supportive Sextile to Venus in Virgo, which brings a sense of order to your day. If chaos has been peeking around the edges of your life these days, and you have left things to pile up, this is an excellent day to get your life organized. Embrace order!

Mercury at 10° Scorpio is moving slowly now, preparing to go Retrograde on October 14, and it is still in Opposition to Uranus Retrograde at 9° Taurus, holding the call for change. The way to wholeness for you under this transit lies in embracing some type of change, or inner transformation. Mars Retrograde is still in an exact Square to Pluto in Capricorn until October 11, Sunday.

When the Moon reaches 17°10′ Cancer, she is now 50% illuminated, which means that she is making an exact Square to the Sun at 17°10′ Libra, forming what we call the Last Quarter, or the 4th Quarter of the Moon Cycle. Whenever we have the Sun and the Moon engaged in a Square to each other, forming a 90°, it’s about integrating psychological challenges. Not only integrating, but it’s also about coming to terms with challenging matters of all sorts, which also brings the need to process them. If we analyze this specific Square, we may think it is all about “reaching across the aisle,” a term widely used in the political arena whereby members of opposite parties unite in a bi-partisan fashion in a mutually agreed compromise to work on legislation or other related matters. Libra is all about balancing scales and working to harmonize relationships.

In contrast, Cancer is all about creating a comfortable and secure atmosphere for a relationship, a partnership, or a negotiation to grow and thrive. This is a Square between two Cardinal energies, Cancer and Libra. Therefore it has the potential to move things forward or to stir things that are stagnated.

Saturday, October 10

This day offers an amazing soothing Sextile between Jupiter at 18° Capricorn and Neptune at 18° Pisces. The Moon in Cancer forms an Opposition to Jupiter, then a few hours later to Pluto, and then to Saturn. I would describe this Sextile as a nourishing type of energy that serves as a cushion to the more intense powers that may defy you/us during the Opposition between the Moon and the Pluto & Saturn Conjunction. The Jupiter ~ Neptune Sextile impacts the collective creating a wave of subtle consciousness that spreads exponentially. Breaking this Sextile down to the current facts, we see people become more conscious of how to protect themselves from external social threats. They are also becoming more aware of how to protect those in the community they are a part of. There is also a movement to bring justice (Jupiter) to social movements, seasoning them with a more empathic expression (Neptune). These transits and planetary configurations are always overlapping each other. Therefore there is a permanent need to look at Astrology with the eyes of complexity. It’s not complicated, but it is very complex.

This day also offers a beautiful Trine between Venus at 9° Virgo and Uranus at 9° Taurus. Virgo and Taurus are Earth signs, and they are all about speedily manifesting things, which is, at the end of the day, what productivity is all about. Because Uranus is the uncharted and unpredictable energy in and by itself, so under the influence of this Trine you may be called to get creative (Venus) about solving some problem (Virgo), and the result is very likely to be about learning how to apply a practical approach to solve something that was once somewhat complicated. A relationship that starts under the influence of this Trine between Uranus and Venus will be adventurous and fun, and it may last longer than other Venus ~ Uranus aspects. A Trine is an aspect that works as a blessing.

By 9 pm the Moon enters Leo, and the energy shifts again, and if you are into some Saturday night leisure, this is it! You are entering a self-assertive Leo territory.

Sunday, October 11

Around 11 am Eastern United States, the Moon in Leo occupies the center point of a Fixed T-Square, an aspect formed between three planets, in this case involving the Moon in Leo, Uranus in Taurus, and Mercury in Scorpio. The Moon doesn’t hold the T-Square for too long. In a few hours, the aspect dissolves itself as the Moon is the fastest moving body in the astrological chart. But the impact of the T-Square could trigger some unresolved miscommunication since Mercury is involved. You don’t want to get involved in an argument unless it is essential to protect (Moon) your reputation (Leo) from a vicious accusation (Mercury in Scorpio).

We are experiencing the last day of the Mars Retrograde in Aries in a Square to Pluto in Capricorn, both at 22°. But taking into consideration that the above mentioned Fixed T-Square is active today, take this day very easy. Everything points towards a power struggle of some sort. It’s hard to go low profile when the Moon is in Leo, and if you are the type of person that attracts tension, this will be a ballistic day. Your best option is to keep your cool today because you are reading this Lunar Planner, and you know what is at stake here.

The Sun at 18° Libra is forming a Square to Jupiter at 18° Capricorn. The Square between these two giants of our Solar system is a powerful, useful Square, because it gives you the energy to get ahead in almost any way that you desire. You do have to be careful not to incur in obvious excess. It may spur you on to do more than you can handle. It can lift you to attempt and succeed at tasks you would not usually consider possible. This transit is definitely a significant boost that may propel you to a new endeavor, because you are feeling confident, and you are willing to win people over to your side. Trying to find common ground is your challenge today!

Monday, October 12

Venus is at 11° Virgo, and Mercury is at 11° Scorpio, continuing with their beautiful dance though a Sextile. Whenever Venus is in Virgo, I think about Artemis, which is a multidimensional Goddess. She was the huntress who protected animals and the virgin (whole and complete unto herself) who made love in the woods. Artemis has shot her arrow of selfhood into your life to help you focus on yourself. That’s why Virgo is so related to your work, your work methodology, your work routine. Then, Mercury in Scorpio is about power, it’s about sitting or standing with your spine straight, setting your sight, and aiming your arrow, as Scorpio energy is all about making your arrow find its mark. Go after your desires with focus and determination. Hopefully, you have sharpened your skills, and you are ready to reach your targets.

In Leo, the Moon is forming a powerful Trine to Mars Retrograde in Aries, pushing your fertility to new heights. Fertility and creativity are here intertwining heart, body, and mind. It’s harvest time! Enjoy the fruits of your work.

Tuesday, October 13

Today promises to be a very productive day as the Moon is transiting Virgo, meeting with Venus in a beautiful Conjunction. This Conjunction translates a movement toward becoming resourceful, toward expansion, toward enhancing the impulse deep within all beings to develop, evolve, press onward to fulfill all that is possible. Mercury in Scorpio is there to fully support you on your journey towards personal and professional growth. Add to the whole emphasis on outstanding productivity, a Trine to Uranus in Taurus.

We are also witnessing that moment when the Sun at 20° Libra is forming an opposition to Mars retrograde in Aries, which is happening today, tomorrow (exact degree), and the day after. This Opposition may be a time of critical culmination when many of your activities and projects will come to a climax in your life. It will become clear whether you have conducted these activities skillfully and intelligently, especially regarding your strengths and relationships. A Sun-Mars transit is disruptive only if the ego energies aroused by the Opposition are allowed to operate at an unconscious, reckless level. If this happens, your actions are likely to bestow blindly self-assertive energy that only arouses opposition from others. Be careful not to let your response take the form of irritability and aggressive actions against others, which may likely weaken your relations with them. For most people, the area of greatest unconsciousness is that of close relationships, the area where Libra has its best expertise.

Today we are entering the Mercury Retrograde period, which is happening at 11° Scorpio.

Wednesday, October 14

Now that Mercury is officially retrograde In Scorpio, we can add this challenge to the chaotic roll of planetary challenges of 2020. The planet of communication, thinking, and timing is squeezing in one more backspin before the year’s end. Most of its journey in the deep and mysterious water of Scorpio, which has the potential to heighten our emotional defensiveness putting a sharp edge on how we communicate. We’re in for exactly three weeks of tricks, as this Mercury retrograde ends on November 3, the election day in the United States. The retrograde period will spin Mercury back into Libra for its final few days. We will feel a sense of relief from the Scorpio intensity, which is also an opportunity to review the logistics and communication styles within our relationships.

On this day, we are also having a powerful window of opportunity to keep pushing ourselves towards realizing our long-term projects. Productivity is likely to be enhanced whenever the Moon in Virgo engages in an expansive Trine with Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn.

The Sun at 20° Libra is forming an exact Square to Pluto at 22° Capricorn. There is a chance that this could be a day when you have to encounter and even oppose powerful pressures and forces exerted upon you, both from without and from within. Pluto has a way to force us to let go of old patterns of behavior, which may prove to be no longer valid under this transit. A manifestation of this transit can be a powerful sense of having purged something or someone from your life.

Thursday, October 15

As the Moon moves into Libra very early in the morning, we take the Libra elegance to the heart of this day. Another exciting aspect supporting the grace of this day is Venus at 14° Virgo approaching a Trine to Jupiter at 19° Capricorn. There are also other critical planetary aspects forming in the upcoming week, but this is a conversation for our next Lunar Planner, written by Kaypacha Lescher.

With love.
